Module 1: Introduction to Cybersecurity
What is Cybersecurity?
What is Cybersecurity?
Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting systems, networks, and programs from digital attacks. These cyberattacks are usually aimed at accessing, changing, or destroying sensitive information; extorting money from users; or interrupting normal business processes.
Why Cybersecurity Matters
- Data Protection: Organizations hold vast amounts of sensitive data
- Financial Impact: Cybercrime costs the global economy billions annually
- National Security: Critical infrastructure needs protection
- Personal Privacy: Individuals need protection from identity theft
